The 2021 election did not show a "collapse" of the Conservative vote - the party still took a majority of the vote in Alberta -- more than all the other parties put together.
The real story is that with the support of only 55 percent of Albertans who bothered to vote (34.5 percent of eligible voters in Alberta), they won almost 90 percent of the seats. This should make people think about the need for proportional representation. With PR, Alberta would have more balanced representation reflecting the way voters actually cast their votes.
Say PR-STV could be adopted. This could have city-wide multi-member districts allowing PR at the district city level. Each city would elect balanced representation, with MPs of three or four parties reflecting the way city voters cast their votes.
And citizens would have a choice of which representative in the own district would serve to represent them and act on their behalf.
Now each district elects only one MP, and there is no way one person can represent the range of opinion in the district and act on everyone's behalf.
