(Somewhat old news but worth blogging...)
Should we be rocked by the "fact" that a poll reported that 10 percent of Albertans want to secede as CBC wants us to be? No because polls can show anything. The pollsters did not even ask 10 percent of the Albertans what they thought. Nineteen times out of 20 a poll is wrong.
Showing lack of understanding of what separatism would mean, a CBC interviewer of a Native leader postulated that Natives would either have to accept secession or would have to move to the States, A critical mind would see that such a people would be loyalists and would be welcomed in Canada or remain in Canada by establishing loyalist centres within Alberta.
And more recently CBC made much of poll that said minority of Albertans want to secede but many say they will accept living in a separated Alberta. Of course, no mention of how many will accept living in Alberta if it remains in Canada. No of course not. What we have is not balanced news ... it is almost propaganda.
Should we care about Trump, who was not backed by a majority of the voters, as much as it seems any CBC news broadcast obviously thinks we should be?
But critical minds sharpened by reading will read behind the lines and see the truth that lies behind the sizzle.
