Contact 1492

What was early contact like between English colonists and Native Americans?

One answer is

In 1492, Christopher Columbus landed in the Caribbean, unlocking what Europeans quickly came to call the 'New World'. Columbus encountered land with around two million inhabitants that was previously unknown to Europeans

But the thing is Christopher Columbus was not English

Born in Italy and sailing in a Spanish flotilla when he arrived at the New World, thinking it was India.

And he was hardly a colonist . An explorer, ship captain and slave-taker, for sure, but a colonist - like a builder or a farmer or a logger or a miner - not so much...
