New Province of the Commonwealth of North Alberta

With talk of independence, perhaps we should consider Northern Alberta becoming a province on its own.

We have the oil and tar sands,

we have water,

we have established cities, roads.

we have fertile well-watered farmlands.

We would be fine as our own province.

We even have a capital already operating - Edmonton.

The dividing point could be Red Deer, but local referendum could determine local allegiance, and dictate the placement of the boundary north or south of there.

Perhaps we could borrow the name of a district of the NWT that was never used for the name of a province -- Athabaska.
