New Zealand opens door to City STV and Maori wards

New law that will allow cities and municipalities to bring in STV or Maori wards, both geared to providing representation for groups within cities.

Here is core of the matter:

the N.Z. law affirms the right of

“fair and effective representation for individuals and communities”.


In the body of the act, effective representation is defined in terms of “effective representation of communities of interest”.


We need that kind of progress here in Canada as well.
