Here's the 2022 ON election by numbers:
10.7 million registered voters 6.1 million did not vote 1,281,000 registered voters did not think their vote would count. (EKOS poll) (Perhaps because the skeleton ballots in the FPTP elections did not offer "a choice that was collaborative, constructive, and reflected their policy priorities," as Stephen says. 4.9M did not vote for another reason? (Perhaps there was no choice on the ballot whom they liked both the party and the individual.) 4.6 million voters voted (one vote per voter) 2.1M votes were used to elect someone (46 per cent were used to elect someone, as recently stated on list serve emails. Ed is looking into this, I think) 2.5M votes were not used to elect someone (54 per cent were wasted, as recently stated on list serve emails.) Alternatively, the 4.6M votes can be broken down into these that were cast "strategically" for an unpreferred candidate. these that were cast for candidate that voter wanted most to be elected. Some of each of these were wasted and some were used to elect someone. Even where voters voted strategically does not mean their vote was used. There is great (un-measurable) mountain of votes wasted and mis-used under FPTP.
