when he says "alley between Whyte Avenue and 81 Avenue", he means the alley between Whyte Avenue and 83rd, behind the Strathcona Hotel.

but the 10300 block location showing south side of Whyte Avenue is correct.

Polynesia town —

boom shot of John Candy laying on the snow covered ground in front of 10107 81 Avenue (the old “Marbles” hairdressing shop). The end of a short pipe visible in the shot is still visible sticking out of the cement step there.

The 10105 81 Avenue building housing Alhambra Books today was also used for the shot.
