SNTV preferable to Cumulative Voting

Cumulative Voting for one seems more complicated than SNTV.

SNTV seems not complicated at all. Vote for whom you want to see elected the most and the most popular X number of candidates are elected. Simple to see who to declare people elected but with the democratic advantages of single voting in multi-member districts.

The only complication that comes in is for parties trying to get as many seats as they possibly can. while it has been shown in at least one case that trying to game the system, instead of simple reliance on the voters of a party holding usually splintered opinion of the preferred specific candidate, yields fair results to all.

Finding a system that best allows a party to game the system is not something I personally think should determine the choice of system.

Cumulative Voting means explaining to voters how fractions of votes can be given to candidates, and,

Cumulative Voting means that each ballot will have to be examined to see how the fractions of votes on each are placed,

this all seems more complicated than casting a single vote such as SNTV or STV.

That is just my opinion.

Thanks for reading.
