Theirs is the Glory


about the battle of Arnheim

filmed in 1946 just a year after war's end,

on location in Arnheim, which was still showing the damage of the battle.


soldiers who had actually been there re-enacted the nine-day defence of the "ravaged Dutch town"

Canadian engineers in small motorboats are credited with carrying out the evacuation of the remaining 2000 (out of 10,000 that landed by 'chute) on the ninth day of the battle.
