World War I - Canadian Soldiers "Acted Up" - riots and more

There were occasions during WWI when Canadian soldiers acted up.

Feb. 1917 Edmonton?

Soldiers of the 218th Battalion rioted in Feb 1917. this is said to have occurred in Edmonton on 101st Street (Wiki "Calgary timeline") but cannot find any reference to it in 1917 Edmonton Bulletin (due to censorship?).

source for info is:

Jamieson, S. "Some reflections on violence and the law in industrial relations," in Bercuson, D.J. and Knafla, L.A. (1979) Law and society in Canada in historical perspective. University of Calgary. See pp. 141, 145 and 150 for multiple analyses of the riots and civil unrest in Calgary.

March 1917 Prince Albert

About 150 soldiers of an un-named battalion attacked the police station at Prince Albert in 1917, in protest of the imposition of strict liquor laws. (Edmonton Bulletin, March 30, 1917, pg. 9)

1918

also accounts of a unit mutiny-ing at Vancouver whan ordered to go to Siberia to fight the Bolshevik Revolution.
