I compare expected seat counts based on first-count preferences with actual results by dividing vote tallies by quotas. And find that the actual seat counts are very proportional to expectations.
But do remember that the first-count vote totals are not used to allocate seats. They are only used as test or measure of part proportionality. The actual results of STV elections are produced through the magic of single votes in multi-member districts and vote transfers where necessary.
